Internal communication is vital for holding meetings, making decisions as a group, and meeting each others' needs. Internal communication requires some amount of awareness of the here & now.
When communication can't take place simply inside your head by having direct conversations, it's possible to use notes, diaries, journaling, emails, etc. to converse with each other.
Using a variety of communication techniques can be helpful for headmates who have varying degrees of communication ability.
There may be things blocking internal communication, so the first thing to do is figure out whether there's anything preventing it, such as anxiety, being unsafe, or in a lot of pain or discomfort. Anything that prevents communication with external folk will also hinder internal communication as well, such as resentments, distrust, preconceived notions, or poor listening skills.
