This is a practice of expanding your awareness of the present moment and your sensory perception of this moment. You can eat mindfully, you can walk mindfully, run mindfully, shower mindfully, etc. This is a "moving meditation" technique, it does not require closing your eyes or being in a full trance state. It is a very light trance state in that the thoughts and chatter of the brain should lessen or quiet while practicing.
The more residents participate in a mindfulness meditation practice, the quieter you will get. It also helps expand time awareness.
